Hormone Testing

Hormone Testing as Part of Your Personalized Wellness Consultation

At Dr. Mariana Bubucea’s Wellness Center, hormone testing is not treated as a stand-alone laboratory service.

It is an important part of Dr. Bubucea’s comprehensive Wellness Consultation, where laboratory findings are interpreted together with your symptoms, medical history, age, reproductive stage, medications, lifestyle, and other relevant health data.

Depending on your individual wellness protocol, your evaluation may also include DEXA, ultrasound, genetic testing, or other advanced assessments.

The goal is not simply to measure your hormones.

The goal is to understand what those results mean for you.

Why Comprehensive Hormone Testing Matters

Hormones work together as an interconnected system. Changes in estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid hormones, insulin, cortisol, DHEA and other signaling molecules can influence many aspects of health and well-being.

Hormonal changes may be relevant to concerns such as:

Energy and fatigue
Menstrual cycle changes
Perimenopause and menopause
Changes in body composition
Metabolism and weight
Sleep
Mood and emotional well-being
Sexual health and libido
Muscle and physical performance
Bone health
Healthy aging

Because many of these symptoms can have multiple causes, laboratory results need to be interpreted within the context of the individual patient.

What Hormones May Be Evaluated?

Dr. Bubucea selects laboratory testing according to the patient's age, sex, symptoms, medical history, current medications, hormonal status, and wellness goals.

Hormonal evaluation may include:

Sex & Reproductive Hormones
Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, Estradiol (E2), Estrone, Progesterone (P4), FSH, LH, SHBG, DHEA-S, Pregnenolone and Prolactin.

Thyroid Hormones
TSH, thyroid hormones and selected thyroid antibodies when appropriate.

Adrenal & Stress-Related Markers
Cortisol and DHEA-S may be evaluated when clinically appropriate.

Growth-Related Hormones
IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 may be included in selected wellness evaluations.

Metabolic Markers
Because hormonal and metabolic health are closely connected, Dr. Bubucea may also evaluate glucose, insulin, HbA1c and other relevant metabolic markers.

The exact laboratory panel is individualized and may differ between patients.

More Than a “Normal” Lab Result

A laboratory reference range is only one part of interpreting hormone results.

Dr. Bubucea considers your laboratory findings together with your symptoms, medical history, reproductive or menopausal stage, medications, lifestyle, and other relevant clinical information.

This is especially important because hormone levels can vary with age, menstrual cycle timing, menopause, medications, time of day, and other physiological factors.

Rather than looking at a single hormone in isolation, the purpose of the evaluation is to understand the relationship between your hormonal patterns and your overall health.

Hormone Testing for Women

Hormonal evaluation may be particularly useful for women experiencing changes associated with:

Irregular or changing menstrual cycles
Perimenopause
Menopause
Hot flashes or night sweats
Changes in sleep
Changes in libido
Changes in energy or mood
Changes in body composition
Other symptoms potentially associated with hormonal transitions

Testing is selected and interpreted according to the individual patient's clinical picture.

Hormone Testing for Men

Men may also benefit from a comprehensive hormonal evaluation, particularly when addressing energy, body composition, sexual health, metabolic health, physical performance, or healthy aging.

Testing may include testosterone and related hormones as well as metabolic and other relevant biomarkers.

From Hormone Testing to a Personalized Wellness Plan

The most important part of hormone testing happens after the blood is drawn.

During your Wellness Consultation, Dr. Bubucea reviews your results within the context of your overall health and determines what the findings may mean for you.

When appropriate, this information can help guide further evaluation, lifestyle recommendations, monitoring, and individualized treatment options.

Hormone testing provides the data. Dr. Bubucea’s Wellness Consultation provides the clinical context and personalization.
